  • On A Roll!

    Saturday, February 18, 2012

I have been comping since June 2011, so I am pretty new to this hobby, but now every spare minute I have, I'm online checking for new competitions. This month, I have been very successful. My biggest win was a Pandora Bracelet. I've also won smaller things such as: a £10 Printworks voucher ( Manchester), 5 books, Cadbury Bitsa Wispa and got Hair products and an Odeon voucher on it's way! Last month I won a TV Times mug (which is shown in my picture), and also a £50 Cath Kidston voucher. Most of the competitions have been from Facebook and the Prize Finder website/ Facebook page, so thank you for that :)

    Long may it continue!

I have been entering competitions since November and really got into it in the lucrative Advent period! I won a few nice bits: toys, make up, nice smellies, but my best win came the day after my son's first birthday: an all inclusive skiing holiday for my husband and I and our 3 kids with Great Little Trading Co and Ski Famille! Our 10 year old is ecstatic and can't wait until Good Friday, when we're off to our luxury chalet in the Alps with a hot tub on the roof! Since then I have won lots more: iPod nano, £200 spabreaks.com voucher for submitting my wedding night memories ( I was 6 months pregnant and remember it all too well!), theatre tickets, concert tickets, more toys, perfume, DVDs, 2 x £50 Experience Days vouchers, cookies, soup hamper. I've also met loads of lovely people along the way and have received, and passed on, some great tips and advice. This week has been amazing. Since Monday I've won a 2 night break with Best Western, perfume, craft paper, Organix goodies, Little Dish goodies, make up, a year's supply of Yorkshire tea and 20 Martina Cole books! I find all my competitions through facebook, facebook friends and here on PrizeFinder, where I always do the 'Closing Tomorrow' ones. I love it!

  • 2nd Prize Won

    Friday, February 10, 2012

I entered my first competition about 2 weeks ago after having a chat with a friend of mine who told me about a friend of her's winning a few prizes. I entered my first comp with Absolute radio and had a call a few days later saying I had won tickets to see Big Country at O2 Shepherds Bush. I was so excited I had won something and have been entering all sorts ever since. This morning I received a phone call to say I had won a pre BAFTA'S makeover with Charles worthington and Lancome at the Savoy courtesy of Grazia magazing. Both are happening tomorrow (Sat 11/02/2012)! I cant stop grinning :)

  • I think I just won my first ever prize

    Monday, February 6, 2012

In the last 2 weeks I have spent hours entering competitions. I didn't think I would ever win anything. We never have any money to spend on luxuries or going out and doing adult stuff as we only have my wage coming in and 2 small children. Then when I got home from work and put the kids to bed I thought that I would check my emails. It turned out that I had won a ticket for me and a friend to go to a ladies only launch of a new make up by a well known Brand. i dont know if this qualifies as a win as such as I dont know how many people are going and if it is just a mass email they have sent out. But it says that it is from Benefit and Elle Magazine so it must be real. I hope so. I am so excited.

  • Sometimes it good to be a runner up!

MadeForMums on Facebook was looking for the Cars biggest fan. You had to send a photo to their wall with your child and their Cars collection. They were so delighted with the response they gave away a second runner up prize. Raiden didn't come first but he was the runner up, Cars 2 Lego.

Raiden has really started to get into Lego while he's been off school, so we decided to wrap it up for Christmas so he can have an extra pressie. He's been a huge fan of Cars since he was about 11 months old. I was amazed when the Lego came as it was one of the huge sets worth about £50.

Here is Raiden with his huge collection & the winning Photo! He decided to draw a picture of Lighting Mcqueen too. Clever boy.

  • I won a MacBook with Bupa By You

    Saturday, February 4, 2012

I was looking for competitions to win a laptop and found one under the Skill-based section to submit a video to BUPA with the theme of "What healthy means to you." I finally got it done with only a few hours to spare. I was not expecting it to even appear on the page becasue the videos were moderated but it did, so I had to frantically rally all my friends and family to vote for my video. I was quite amazed at the response and my simple little video finished in the top 10. It was selected by BUPA as the overall winner of a MacBook Air Laptop. The video was shot on small camera with no fancy props and no editing. The clip is going to be used as part of their TV advertising. It was particularly meaningful to me because I have lost two stone in weight since last August and finally gained the confidence to allow myself to have fun - and not care what anyone else thinks.

  • The Lovely Turkey

    Friday, February 3, 2012

I've been comping now since August and have now actually found myself a hobby. My friends think I need help because I've become so addicted to it which I find quite amusing. I've had some lovely prizes - a cycling jacket worth £100, cinema card also worth £100 and many other smaller prizes but my best had to be the turkey that I won just before Xmas. It was the strangest win I'd had but did make Xmas that much more fun getting to eat the prize (it was huge!). I'd just like to thank ThePrizefinder because had it not been for you guys I'd have never have won these prizes.

  • Over £1,300 worth of prizes since November!

    Thursday, February 2, 2012

I was made redundant in November, so I thought I would try my luck and enter some competitions. I had heard lots of stories about people winning and thought it might cheer me up while hunting for jobs. To date I have won festival tickets for 4 people worth £400, tickets to the Ideal Home Show, a spa day worth £360, a selection of books, a coffee gift set and a spa weekend worth £600. I've just started a new job but I'm going to keep on comping, and hopefully winning too!

  • Comping is the best hobby ever

I have been comping for three years now and have been really lucky with some great wins.

I never had a hobby as a child and stumbled across comping quite by accident late one night when my kids were misbehaving and I was surfing the net. I entered a comp on the Prizefinder to go to a Sugababes concert and received a call the next day to say that I had won and could bring a guest to the Xbox launch party.

My son came with me and couldnt believe his luck as we had been sat on the stage when they came out. The girls were so close he could touch them (if he wanted) and it was like a private gig.

Well I was hooked. Friends often ask what the best thing I have won is. It is so hard too say. Today was definitely top of my list - I met David Beckham.

Comping brings opportunities to take part in experiences that money couldn't buy. I would recommend it as a hobby and am always delighted to hear when one of my friends wins too.

  • Prizes got me through Christmas

    Tuesday, January 31, 2012

My husband was out of work from the end of November until the beginning of this week. He's usually the breadwinner and I'm a stay at home mum, so it was a difficult Christmas, not knowing when there'd be more money coming in. Luckily in November I won a hamper full of Molton Brown goodies including a beautiful big candle and that provided presents for four people (we did keep a few bits ourselves) and then I won a bag of Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom toys and DVD's from E4 which was the perfect present for my TV obsessed toddler! Christmas was still tough, but it could have been much worse. I also won a wonderful Christmas experience from Magic: skating followed by a ride on the London Eye with mulled wine, but I let my brother do this as unlike me he doesn't need a babysitter!

Other small prizes I've won in the last few months included a diary, an Abbot Ale tumbler (well they did have 1000 to give away) and lots of subtitled DVDs which we thoroughly enjoy. Thanks Prizefinder. Writing it down has reminded me how well I've done!
