  • My Comping Success

    Tuesday, March 20, 2012

I started comping last March and since then I've won an assortment of stuff from various sites. Some of my biggest wins so far have been: Just So Festival whole weekend family tickets, a Merlin annual family pass, a pair of mens Timberland boots rrp:£120, a family pass to the amazing World of Peppa Pig and 2nd prize of £300 to spend at the Menswear site.
As well of these I have also won loads of smaller wins - way too many to list. I love comping - it's a great hobby and I have also made lots of lovely new comper friends along the way. Here's hoping this year will continue to be as fruitful. So far in 2012 I have had 40 wins :)

  • Seeing the world one comp at a time!

    Tuesday, March 20, 2012

I started comping in June last year, and after a few months of flailing around entering whatever I could get my hands on, I'm now a bit more selective with what I enter - and my first stop to find creative and fun competitions is always theprizefinder's 'Skill-based' section, and SuperLuckyDi's blog!

Over the last few months I've seen my biggest and most exciting wins. In February, I flew off to Arctic Finland courtesy of Windows Phone UK with my boyfriend Andrew to stay in a hotel made of snow, drive a husky sleigh and drink icy cold vodka in an ice bar (see the picture! Brr!); on top of that, I just found out that I won the Lotto facebook competition for an all-expenses-paid trip to New York!

I turn 21 this year so I’m really excited to celebrate in style with business class flights, 4 nights in Soho, NY (the travel agent was flexible, so we managed to get another night into the budget by opting for a boutique hotel!), a makeover at Bloomingdales and £1000 spending money. I can’t wait to see where else in the world my new favourite hobby can take me (Andrew has been pushing for Barbados next!).

  • A brilliant February

February has been another brilliant month with lots of nice wins including make-up, purfume, mugs, kitchen appliances, clothes and tickets to see Tony Stockwell. My best win was a year's supply of tea and a Murphy Richards kettle from Yorkshire tea. All I had to do was send in a picture of me and my kettle.

  • Anti-Wrinkle Cream Surprise

    Tuesday, February 28, 2012

I got an email from "This Works" to say I had won a years's supply of anti-wrinkle cream in their Facebook competition. My first reaction was "I don't need wrinkle cream. There must be a mistake!" It turns out the comp I entered was for luxury, top-of-the-range, award-winning, natural, organic skincare products - much better! They have a retail value of nearly £600 and are absolutely gorgeous!

I won £50 worth of Thornton chocolate goodies from the Find me a Gift Valentine romantic dinner recipe competition two weeks ago. I wrote a recipe on my blog and submitted it to the Find me a gift competition. My recipe was Warm Crispy Pork and Avocado Lime Salald. I made that on Valentine's Day for my wife. It was a starter to a romantic dinner. A few days late I received a box full of yummy Thornton goodies. It was lovely, even the box look nice too. I gave that to my wife for Valentine's. She was ever so pleased. She thaught that I have spent a lot of money on the present. This is my first time entering any competition. I have never won anything beore. It was so brilliant. I will start comping from now on. It was always nice to see something deliver to your door especilly when it was a nice big box of chocolate goodies. Thank you PrizeFinder and also thank you Find Me a Gift for the competition.

  • I've won a dream wedding in the Bahamas and a honeymoon in South Africa!

I've been doing comp on and off for 15 years. The best prize I won up until recently was a fornight in Florida - this was 15 years ago before the birth of my son. Once I had my daughter I became too busy to do comps but last November I started doing them again. And wow have I been lucky!! I'm engaged to a wonderful man called Jason and I saw a competition to win a dream wedding in the Bahamas. It involved voting so I got my friends, family and our colleagues to vote and we found out a few weeks ago that we'd won! So we are getting married on 16th May this year and we get to take two witnesses with us. I then found out we'd won 6 nights in South Africa, so this will be our honeymoon. We've got 4 nights in Cape Town and 2 nights in the vineyards & car hire for the duration. Two weeks ago, I won £100 of High St vouchers which will go towards the grooms outfit and last week I won £50 Asda vouchers which will go towards bridesmaids shoes & accessories. I'm now desperately trying to win more vouchers or cash to put towards our wedding costs.

  • Vicky's year of winning

I have been comping for a whole year now and I absolutly love it. I do it when the children are in bed so I don't dedicate lots of time to it, maybe around 7 hours a week! I have won some fantastic prizes, my favourite being a trip to London, including a hair makeover, a michelin starred meal, an overnight stay in a four star hotel, £200 selfridges voucher and a kettle and toaster!
This year I have only won around £130 worth of prizes up to now, but they're things that I wouldn't normally have, for example:- 2 gorgeous bunches of flowers, 30 boxes of tea taking up my cupboard space and expensive shampoo and conditioner. My latest prize is goodies from Arm and Hammer for pictures of my pancake. I mainly just enter competitions that require effort.

  • Tickets for Alton Towers after 2 weeks of comping!

    Sunday, February 26, 2012

I found ThePrizeFinder when I was reading one of my magazines about a girl who kept winning stuff on here so I thought I'd give it a go. I've been entering competitions for about 2 weeks and Ive just received my very first prize, 4 tickets for Alton Towers. I just want to say thank you to the girl in the magazine and for ThePrizeFinder :) I just hope I can win some more great stuff :)

  • So Fragrance Win

    Tuesday, February 21, 2012

I joined ThePrizeFinder and entered lots of competitons. I came across a Facebook valentines competition with So Fragrance, and had to submit a poem.

I was waiting for ages and still hadn't won a single competition so I decided to search for my name in the Facebook search bar and found a post from So Fragrance saying that I'd won. I contacted them with my details, and the next day (today) my prize arrived - a deoderant and matching purfume.

I'm so happy. If it wasn't for ThePrizeFinder, I wouldn't have won.

  • A change in luck!

I discovered ThePrizeFinder last year after catching the competition bug on winning a local competition to see some of my favourite acts in concert. Within a few weeks I had won a £1,000 worth of office stationery from Staples and an afternoon tea at Claridges. A couple of months later I had a couple of smaller wins including a £20.00 book token and a dance CD. I was just thinking it was ages since I'd won anything and feeling down due to a run of bad luck since Christmas (coupled with being slightly traumatised by turning the big 40) when I received an email to say I'd won a Spy Workshop in London. This was closely followed by my receiving a limited edition cheese plate on Valentines day and another email today saying I've won a CD. Although these wins are relatively small, they have given me hope that my luck may finally be changing for the better.. fingers crossed!
