  • No Go Sober for October for me!

After a very dry August I had two wins at the beginning of September. £25 from Born to Loaf and a Pimms hamper from Sleep Retreat Hotels.

I'd better get drinking that Pimms before summer finishes. Sorry Go Sober for October, but you may have to wait until Dry January.

  • My fabulous vac

I was very lucky to win a cordless vaccuum cleaner from a blog competition. A serious accident and long-term health problems has left me struggling somewhat with household tasks and getting my vac up and down the stairs was quite beyound me. So this has made my life so much easier and it's a great little machine.

I love entering blog comps as you find out lots of interesting things while you are comping and they are a great source of ideas, recipes, and personal stories. This one was the usual gleam type of entry - they put some people off because of the number of tasks but they are quite quick to do and some of the prizes are fabulous.

The vac is really light and easy to use and very easy to charge up - it just plugs into a normal socket and it does a really good job for a cordless vac so I'm delighted with my win.

I have been comping on and off for a few years but only winning a handful of prizes. However, I really enjoy the process of a cuppa on a Saturday entering all the comps for the week!
I was delighted when I won a FB competition to a lovely craft site for a £20 voucher. We have two parrots and so decided to make a personalised chopping board for their breakfast. We were absolutely delighted when it came through.

I don't comp expecting to win, but I love reading the winners pages and when a win comes - it is amazing!!

Sometimes it is the little wins that keep you going,. Comping can be very frustrating at times and you sometimes wonder why you do it when nothing happens, then out of the blue a little win comes along and makes your day, for me it was a simple water bottle, just for a comment on the Saga Facebook page, not big I know but just enough to spur me on, and who knows the 1st September just might be my winning month.

I have had a great month for winning food and drinks! Perhaps it's the nesting instinct due to pregnancy?!
I got a surprise email from a Wimbledon facebook Moonpig competition with a prize of 2 bottles of champagne (clearly I'll be saving these) and 2 official Wimbledon towels (which my son was obsessed with carrying around his neck). The original winner never got back to them so I was drawn second. I then won a box of cupboard food and drink like coffee, pesto, wine and sparking juices from a daily giveaway on social media. Following this I won 12 bottles of aloe juice and 12 tubs of hartleys jelly in Twitter/Instragram comps involving something a little more than a RT or regram.

I have definitely not ever won as much good or drink in a single month!

This month I've been looking at the creative competitions on prize finder and those which I could involve my toddler in, many of these close soon so hopefully I can report some success with these next month.

  • A few nice August wins

August has ticked along nicely with a total of 2 craft kits from different Twitter competitions, a baking book (again from Twitter, but yet to be received) and then from Facebook a selection of oatcakes and biscuits. I always appreciate food prizes as it's usually something you wouldn't normally get for yourself - I can recommend the shortbread with ginger! I'm still hoping for a big prize, but the little ones are always welcome.

August has been good so far and as we were going away at the back end I knew I had to be careful with closing dates as I wouldn't be at home. So in July I packed in as many comps as I could and it paid off. I won tickets to the cricket courtesy of Hardy's wine, one where they were for set dates and venues at the test match (definitely checked the t&c's on this one!) it was a glorious day in London and we had such a lovely time sneaking in a night away too! Then I won a small chest freezer from Euronics on Twitter, which I been wanting for my fruit and veg from the garden, happy days! Currently having a couple of weeks off on holiday (well almost - still keeping an eye open for new comps!)
