I joined ThePrizeFinder a couple of days ago. I'd always wanted to make a hobby out of comping but never had the time. I recently had my first child so I'm on maternity leave from work and have found myself with a bit of free time when my son is sleeping so thought I'd give the comping a proper go. I looked through the competitions yesterday and a competition offering a Gold Wedding Planner Package caught my eye, I thought I'd give it a go as it would be a lovely prize and despite being engaged for a while my fiance and I have never gotten round to starting to plan anything. I had a little time to check my emails this morning between the festivities and couldn't believe my eyes when I'd received an email back saying I'd won the competition! The win made my Christmas day a little bit more special - a bit of beginners luck and a lovely Christmas surprise have just made my day!

Well what a fab end to a great comping year.

So I finally got my first win just a month after joining this website. I came home from doing the big Christmas food shop to find an email telling me I had won a new iPad case. I'm going to keep entering competitions and see if I can get some more wins next month :)

I have only been comping for a few weeks but I have already won some fabulous prizes including a massive Turkey for my Xmas dinner. My favourite so far was winning tickets to see The Snowman and the Snowdog performed at the Union Chapel in London along with a signed soundtrack and DVD. So happy! Merry Christmas everyone. I started Advents on 1st December but didn't feel lucky at all - I entered page after page knowing that I probably wouldn't have another day spare before Christmas. I didn't hold out much hope but on 2nd December I received an email... "Congratulations you have won an outfit every month for a year from Evans!" I was ecstatic! Follow up emails confirmed that I had £150 to spend every month meaning my first advent win was worth a whopping £1800!!

Add to that a £10 iTunes voucher and a tube of Pringles on the Pringles Advent, an i-Helicopter from ParamountZone, 2 x Stella Beauty wins in the form of an Avene Facial Spray and a Vita Liberata pHenomenal mousse tan, a Bulmers hat and a £150 M&S Hamper in the raffle at work and I think we can safely say December has been a very lucky month so far!

I stumbled across the site last month and decided to try a couple of competitions assuming a time waster. I believe it took no more than fifteen minutes. Two weeks later, I was driving and took a call from Absolute Radio to inform me I had won a Golf GTI driving day as well travel and hotel expenses. I attended the day this week and it was fab! VW are developing a mobile app that let's your driving compose the music you listen to, have a look on Youtube, VW Play the Road. I managed to get up to 140 mph in the rain.

There was a second part to the prize, one thousand pounds (see photo) and a Golf GTI for 6 months!!

What an introduction to competitions.

I am now hooked to this site for some more beginners luck. I love the tracker as I believe it is a question of activity equalling results.

Next aim is definitely a family holiday, after I have had my fun in the GTI!

Hayes Garden World ran a competition on Facebook and their main webpage to win one of 12 Christmas Trees. Usual like/share/comment affair. Pretty long shot to win it but they were giving 12 away to winners as well as 12 away to charity, so worth entering regardless.

So my name got pulled out of the hat, announced on their webpage, then there was a mix up because I thought they were to contact me rather than the other way around. Eventually I messaged them on Facebook, discovered the latter was the case, sent them my details and 36 hours later (6 sleeps before Christmas Day) this 6ft artificial pre-lit Christmas Tree turns up via courier.

Set up and lit up it certainly looks the £289.99 these would normally set you back buying direct, but we added a few baubles and dangly decorations later because we like gaudy. Our old tree was also artificial, 4 years old, but starting to get a bit tatty, so this is the perfect replacement.

Lots of little prizes are also winging their way, books, gadgets, merchandise, 1kg of Haribo, Yardley gift sets and so on. December has been really good to me with respect to having my name pulled out of various hats. But this tree is a real, vivid and 6-foot tall reminder that although it's a lot of hard work sometimes, you gotta be in it to win it :)

I actually won my 1st ever hamper, a Haribo christmas hamper. I was shocked that I won one. I keep hearing about people winning hampers but at last I actually won one yay :)

When I got the hamper you should have seen my kids' faces when we opened the box that the hamper was in. It was priceless!

Well this month I haven't had any big wins but I have won enough small prizes to fill all our stockings for Xmas. This includes CDs, DVDs books, chocolate and makeup. So hoping for a big win before the new year bells ring. Happy comping guys. I will keep doing the advents as you never know whats round the corner.
