Hello again everyone! Well we did it, we survived the summer holidays – woohoo! Seriously, I did really enjoy having the children home for the summer, but by the end of August bickering between them was starting to set in, and the juggling required to manage working from home, running the house and the kids was getting to a level that a circus performer would struggle to keep up with! My eldest went back to school last week (Year 4, big girl now), and my youngest starts in Reception class today – very exciting times! How was your summer? Are you, like me, secretly glad to have a bit of normality back, or would you happily have summer all year round?
The children will no doubt be very tired for the next few weeks, adjusting to life back at school. This means we can have some nice quiet after-school sessions catching up on a few movies and some good books. I might even be able to read some of the eBooks I have stored on the iPad for myself – I download them all the time, but never seem to get chance to read them! How about you? Do you have a favourite reading time or spot? Do you like to read in the bath when you get some “me time”? Are you a bed-reader? The Help by Kathryn Stockett. The characterization is excellent and the story very engaging yet realistic of the late 50's/early 60's when racial issues were at their height in the USA. The author also adds well placed humour which prevents the tone becoming too heavy.

A very difficult choice as there are so many amazing books but Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo is such an emotional read.
I think that Richard Dawkins
I think that Richard Dawkins book "The God Delusion" is one of the greatest scientific books ever written. His arguments about religion are investigated to the fullest extent. This book should be read by everybody along with other Dawkins material such as "The Selfish Gene", "The Blind Watchmaker" and "The Magic Of Reality"
I absolutely love ' a matter
I absolutely love ' a matter of life and sex' by Oscar moore who sadly died not long after the book was published. It is funny and sad at the same time. I have read it so many times!

I don't think I can single out one favourite book - I love all Agatha Christie and crime stories - when you re-read you pick up a clue to whodunit that you missed before and realise how clever the authors are.

Im a bit of a scifi geek and I know it may be a cliché but my fav book of all time is The Hobbit. Nothing comes close to it and I have collectors editions that I have encouraged my children to reach as well. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!
