Hello everyone! How was your weekend, any nice wins to report? A few nice bits and pieces here including a Playmobil set which I will squirrel away for my youngest at Christmas, a Dreamworks magazine from Sun Perks, a bottle of Headrin head lice treatment (not glamorous but practical all the same) and a cuddly owl toy from a Twitter comp! The Christmas cupboard has begun at least, and I am seeing lots of fab Christmas competitions already. Have you started comping for Christmas?
Autumn has certainly arrived here on the island and we have been enjoying some lovely weekend walks along the coastline, on the cliffs and through the woods. One thing we are never short of here on the Isle of Wight is beautiful scenery and wildlife! In particular as a family we are huge fans of squirrels, and red ones especially. In point of fact there are no grey squirrels here on the Island and it is an offence to introduce greys to the Island – it is a conservation habitat for red squirrels. Red squirrels are much more timid and difficult to spot than greys we have found, and like to play hide and seek when you try and take their photo in the woods.
Did you know there is even a National Red Squirrel Week? Well there is and it is this week: 28th September – 4th October 2015. Across the country people are being asked to get involved with projects set up to help our furry, nut-loving friends. Head over to The Red Squirrel Week page at the Wildlife Trust website and find out how you can get involved locally in conservation projects and activities.
In celebration of this important week here at The PrizeFinder we are giving away a fabulous squirrel-themed bundle in our monthly competition, open exclusively to members. I will choose one winner at random after the closing date of Sunday 4th October 2015 at 23:59 who will receive a flip top heavy duty wooden squirrel feeder and 6kg of squirrel food from Ark Wildlife – perfect for helping your local squirrel friends through the cold months to come! The durable timber squirrel feeder features a platform for the squirrels to sit on, lifting the lid to retrieve the food. The specially formulated squirrel food includes sunflower seeds, peanuts, hazelnuts, pine nuts and no wheat fillers – certain to keep the squirrels coming back to your garden time after time and off the bird feeders too! To join in simply leave me a comment below and tell me what your favourite garden visitor is, be it a bird or an animal – obviously mine would be a red squirrel or maybe a hedgehog. You need to be registered with The PrizeFinder and logged into your account to enter; one entry per person and one winner will be chosen at random.
Happy comping and lots of Lucky Dust to you all!
Kirsty x
