Hello everyone! How was your weekend, any nice wins to report? Won another Goodreads book and a free pint of Carling from their iPint app, but I do have one other win to report – I have finally won a break away! Yes, you read that correctly, after years of trying I have finally managed to win a holiday related prize – hurrah! I have won a romantic mini-break at Chiltern Valley B&B in Oxfordshire, including a two hour vineyard and Brewery tour – I am really rather excited! I won the comp through Mills & Boon and despite having missed their first email somehow they were kind enough to chase me up with a second, which I quickly responded to So just goes to show that perseverance pays off and you realty can win those Wish List prizes if you just keep trying!
Well we are in the home straight now, less than two weeks to go now until the kids go back to school. We have had some fun this summer, as well as some boring days for the kids when we have been working or doing chores, but I don’t think a little boredom is a bad thing. Entertaining the little ones all day every day doesn’t set them up to have a very good imagination I don’t think; they need time to work out games on their own and realise that we are not there to tell them what to do every second of the day. Still, I am rather glad that the end is in sight now as the girls are starting to get on each other’s nerves and it is almost time to get back to some sort of normality, routine and into early nights again.
If you have little ones going back to or starting school in September have you finished all your shopping for uniform, shoes and accessories? Just a pair of shoes and a pencil case left to get here and then we will be done. Back to school shopping can be a very expensive thing though, especially if you have more than one child to buy for or have older children at high school. My favourite subject at school was Dance. It was over 55 years ago and it is probably not taught in the same way nowadays! We used to wear little tunics and dance in bare feet to classical music. None of your modern pop for us back then!
I was quite creative and would choreograph airy fairy dances which most of my "more normal" friends hated! My teacher loved it though!.
Although I didn't free-dance after I left school I did become a keep fit instructor and worked out routines to the latest pop music. I did try to introduce some "free movement" but my class hated it so I soon gave that up! I taught for over 20 years and still like to do Zumba although as a member of the class.

I enjoyed physics the best at school. We had a really great teacher called Mr Jones who was always really animated and made you think about how physics affected you in your daily life. We also got to do lots of experiments and make things which was fun.

my favourite subject was English, loved writing stories ,in one lesson we had to write about our hobbies iwrote and illustrated snail keeping which I did and enjoyed, I can remember being called up to the desk by our English teacher in a lesson because he didn't believe me about my hobby he said he,d never heard of it before and said I was making it all up well I stood my ground and my sister had to confirm this as true that I did snail keeping he was flabbergasted and apologised and I got top marks in the class for how I,d portrayed it all out indepth with pictures I was very happy , super duper giveaway indeed too
I loved art because we studied history of art as well and it's given me a lifelong love of art and artists.
