Mother's Day is one of those occasions where you see the same style of competition crop up every year - you might need to write a poem about your mum, or share a photo of the two of you. Make sure you save your entry somewhere safe as you may be able to recycle it for a competition next year. If you're pleased with your poem or photo, why not print it off and stick it in your Mother's Day card too?

The way my mum always gets words mixed up makes us laugh. Recently she spoke to a complete stranger about my erotic plants she meant exotic

my mum drove home in the middle of her night shift to be with me when I went into labour and stayed with me, holding my hand as my daughter was born
It's difficult to pick one,
It's difficult to pick one, but I always remember her taking me in to Liverpool to buy a Lego Castle that I really wanted, after I'd spent the weekend in hospital. There are no doubt countless more that are more meaningful and had a greater influence on the person I became, but for happiness value, I'm plumping for this one.
We live out in the country
We live out in the country and my best memory of my Mum was when she used to drive my sisters and I to the school bus stop in her nightdress :) (usually because we didnt ask Mum to take us to the last minute and she wasn't ready to go). At least we didnt miss the bus though. Seems so funny now looking back :)

Lying on our backs in the garden, laughing at not very much in particular until our tummys hurt and we had tears running down our cheeks. It's the simple sunny afternoons that can make the best memories.

My Mum was always there for me through thick and thin
The best memory of all time
The best memory of all time that I have with my Mum, is when I won the trip of a lifetime (via this website) to California!!
It was always mine and my mums dream to go there, so it was a dream come true when we won!
We still talk about the holiday constantly and had the most wonderful time - Thank you Theprizefinder for making it happen!! :D You don't know how grateful we are! :) xx
When my first daughter was
When my first daughter was born my parents came to visit us in hospital.
My mother's face when she first saw my daughter was amazing, instantly scooping her into her arms I remember how mom cradled my newborn softly talking, stroking and looking with love and overwhelming amazement at this little girl that had joined our family. I have always been touched by her love and my children have been so lucky to share this lady's tenderness too.
It was a moment I will always treasure
My mum is so selfless, not
My mum is so selfless, not only does she care for my dad with dementia at home, she still looks after my children for me after school whilst I'm a t work. Love you mum xx
Me and my Mum have always
Me and my Mum have always done things together. Holidayed together, shopped for clothes and even worn clothes together. When I was younger, I loved the film "Grease" and obviously, my Mum still remembered the film from when she was a young girl. She taught me the dance to "Born to hand jive" and we used to do it all the time. My memory is of a time when we were waiting for some takeaway food in her car and "Born to hand jive came on", we spontaneously started doing the dance and actually attracted a crowd of people who watched from the street! When the song was over, we were exhausted and people were clapping! Was definitely a funny moment :D
When my brother and I were
When my brother and I were younger we asked to go to McDonalds for a treat but Mum said 'no' as her hair needed washing. Dad said 'put a paper bag over your head', so Mum did just that....put a brown paper bag on her head with holes cut in for eyes and off we went to McDonalds. The funniest thing was that no-one even gave her a second glance!!!
my mum was a chef and shes
my mum was a chef and shes passed on her love of baking to me we used to bake and cook every other day and thats a memory that i always think of is my mum the chef helping to bake when i was younger :)

My favourite memory of my Mum
My favourite memory of my Mum is listening to her singing along to old songs on the radio in the car on long journeys and us little ones trying to copy - "I'd love to teach the world to sing....", " We all live in a yellow submarine", "I want to ride my bicycle"...and so many more!
my mum gave me primrose
my mum gave me primrose plants from her garden, to plant in the garden of my new house. They come into flower every spring and have multiplied. I always think of her when I look out of the kitchen window.
On holiday in Majorca, my
On holiday in Majorca, my mother being the ditsy thing she is, was looking over in the opposite direction to where we were sitting and said "oh look there are people over there!" Needless to say we all fell about laughing as she had only been looking in the mirrored wall we were sitting next to. OH DEAR!

my favourite memories are the ones I am always making with her now that we get on better than we did when I was younger

When we went to my sisters
When we went to my sisters wedding in the Caribean it was my Mums first time on a plane. When we came out of the plane my Mum said "there's a lot of heat coming off those engines". It was not the engines it was mid day and very hot. It still makes us all laugh today.
My mum is sadly no longer
My mum is sadly no longer with me, but I have lots and lots of happy memories of her, Think the loveliest times were spent on sunny school holidays sitting on our front doorstep, with us playing with all the neighbourhood kids, and her drinking her cup of tea and nattering to the other mum's on our street, it's only now that I realise how special and lucky those times were.
My mum died four days after
My mum died four days after Mothers Day last year but I have so many wonderful memories . I remember her saying would I take her to Perth Australia to celebrate her 90th Birthday, I did and we had a fabulous time, we went on a wine cruise we never laughed so much with my sister in law and daughter. We had a wonderful party on her birthday. So many happy times - miss her so much.
Seeing her waiting for me off
Seeing her waiting for me off the bus on my first trip away from home on my school trip. I was away for 7 days and it felt good to see her!
Mum made my sister and I
Mum made my sister and I costumes for the local carnival competition one year. I was dressed as a money spider, with this huge web of metal spokes around my face and money pinned to it, and my sister was dressed as Cresta polar bear, if anyone remembers the ad way back then, for the drink? Oh the fun, and I got a prize, 2nd I think it was!
My favourite memory with my
My favourite memory with my mum would have to be shaving her hair off after her first chemotherapy, well it was so empowering, sad but happy that she was fighting off that terrible disease. Now that she is 4 years in the clear, we look back at that day fondly!
My favourite memory of my mum
My favourite memory of my mum is her rushing past me as I came through the front after school. She was wearing a scarf around her head and when I asked she was going she lifted the scarf off her head and said 'the hairdressers'....my mum never tried to dye her hair herself again!!!!
My mum was taking me to
My mum was taking me to school aged 5. It had snowed heavily, and she was pulling me on my sledge. A car passed us, then not far ahead it slowed down and threw a bundle of wrags out, didn't stop at all, then sped up and didn't come back. As we neared, the wrags were moving. My mum moved closer, through a deep now drift to try and see what it was. She picked it up and it was a little black puppy. She held it to her and kept it warm, whilst she kept pulling my sledge. I got off, and she put the little dog on the sledge and we both pulled it onwards through the snow.
She left me at school, and went home still with the little bundle. When I got home, she had rung around all the dog rescue places, had it checked over by a vet, but had not found the owner. A week later, we still had her, and we named her Molly. Molly stayed with us for next 11 years. My mum has rescued so many animals over the years - swans, hedgehogs, ferrets but none that became as important as that little puppy. x
My favourite memory of my Mum
My favourite memory of my Mum is when she came to the hospital to see me just after I had given birth to my first Son (her first grandchild). The expression on her face will live me forever. The love just poured out of her expression, it reduced us both to tears. My Mum and my Son still have a very special bond.
When my Mum was in her 80's
When my Mum was in her 80's we collected her for a Family Meal out. She looked lovely as always in a new (expensive!)dress. It was around midnight when we dropped her back home and saw her safely inside. The next day I went round at lunchtime to take Mum shopping and I was suprised to see her making lunch still wearing her new dress now all creased and wrinkled. She burst out laughing as she explained that she had been unable to get the long zip down and had had to sleep in it! The dress did recover after a trip to the cleaners but after that I always used to unzip her after a night out!
My favourite memory of my mum is her drinking pimms in the sunshine at our royal county show on her birthday, laughing her head off and looking really happy :)
