My best comping Tip is to do everything Di Coke says!!!
I am pretty new to comping
I am pretty new to comping (only within the last month) so learning as I go and looking forward to tips from the more seasoned compers. Your tip is very encouraging right now Kirsty…I must remember patience and positivity! Thank you!
The tip I would give to other 'newbies' is to look carefully at the validity of the competition. I've discovered already that there are, perhaps unsurprisingly, some that are not genuine (I've found this particularly on Facebook). Like most things, these are the minority but it pays to be vigilant when providing information.
My best comping tip is to
My best comping tip is to concentrate on competitions which take a little more effort. Those wanting either a tie=breaker, photo, or comment always attract a lower number of entries and therefore, more chances to win.
Prizefinder has a great selection of comps which take some effort, and is a great resource for compers to use.
i like to list what i enter,
i like to list what i enter, so dont enter twice, see what im lucky on, how many i enter before i win. i just like lists :)
My comping tip is to do a few
My comping tip is to do a few of those postcard competitions (e.g. Gadget Show) and send by 2nd class post. I do the ones in the local mags that get put through my door or from the ones in the doctor's surgery while waiting for an appointment and get about 25% success rate!
The one thing i have learnt
The one thing i have learnt when comping, is don't get wound up if you don't win and say " it should have been me,it's not fair"! so from now on it's "ok i didn't win,so move on and don't dwell on the past,it's the future you will be shaping! Hopefully lol x
My best tip would be to play
My best tip would be to play to your strengths: if you're good at baking, enter baking comps; if you're creative enter video or Pinterest comps!

I love to take time on the creative comps as they tend to be lower entry and are also more enjoyable to take part in-I like trying to think of ideas outside the box and is very rewarding when you win a prize-also check the prizefinder daily to keep up with the latest competitions x
Keep a list on your phone of
Keep a list on your phone of promoters with on pack promotions, so you know what to look for when you are out and about shopping
Stay positive! Don't focus on
Stay positive! Don't focus on all the competitions you haven't won.
Open a seperate email account for your "comping" so you can sift through the copious amounts of junk mail. Keep a list of your wins so you can see that comping is worth it!
My best tip is to make sure
My best tip is to make sure you have a quick glance at the Ts & Cs to ensure you're eligible! A few times recently I've been part way completing the entry form and realised you've got to be (eg) under 16 to enter (which I'm not!). It would've saved me time and ultimately potential upset at missing out on a good prize!
Best comping tips. Target
Best comping tips. Target what you entered by searching out prizes you really want xx
Go for the (rarer) creative
Go for the (rarer) creative competitions (suxh as caption competitions), where you stand a better chance of winning if you work hard at them
Make a wish list and focus on
Make a wish list and focus on winning the things you really want and need, check your local shopping centres and newspapers for competitions that should be low entry thus giving you better odds of winning and above all, stay positive! :)

I find being selective- ie I
I find being selective- ie I have no young children so do not need to enter baby and kids comps- helps. I concentrate on searching for comps I want to win ie luxury, hampers or holidays and then also do creative comps.
My best tip is organise your
My best tip is organise your time well,if you do this then the time you set aside for comping each day you can use wisely searching for competition you want to enter and ignoring those you dont. Also by using the prizefinder website you can keep track of all the ones you have entered
make folders for different
make folders for different competitions e.g. daily mornings, sort out and bookmark the ones you would really like to win first and then if there's time look at the others
Always have a camera with you
Always have a camera with you when out and about and keep an eye out for the unusual snap that might come in handy for a competition.
Best tips, try & not to enter
Best tips, try & not to enter every comp you see, be selective & it's will make the hobby enjoyable & save u time
Use something like Sweep
Use something like Sweep (http://www.wavget.com/download/legacy-downloads/ - it's FREE and I've been using it for years) to record details of sites with regular comps. Once set up, and it's really simple to do, it will remind you when the next comp is due.
Enter extra effort
Enter extra effort competitions (write a poem, complete a tie-breaker or snap a photo). Lots of people are lazy, so these competitions may boost your chances. Also there is better chance with highly localised competitions :)
My comping tip is to learn to
My comping tip is to learn to be patient-you may not win anything for a long time but you will win something eventually if you keep entering enough competitions.
My best comping tip is to
My best comping tip is to have a "real" profile photo. A photo that allows promoters to see you're a real person. You would be surprised what a difference this makes!
Log every competition you
Log every competition you enter (I use a spread-sheet) - this keeps you organised and stops you from duplicating entries and thus risking making an entry invalid.
Be organised e.g bookmark
Be organised e.g bookmark regular comps you enter every day such as magazine dailies and only enter comps for things you actually want to win...whilst it is demoralising not winning I find its just as demoralising winning a piece of tat
Don't try to enter everything
Don't try to enter everything or comping will become a chore. Be selective and have fun.
A new theory I would like to test this year is to not immediately discount entering the competitions that require a bit of effort, e.g. those that ask you to write a catchphrase or design a logo. If, like me, others are put off from entering such competitions then hopefully my odds of winning one is greatly increased. I'll let you know if this theory works out
