I visit a local Scotmid store at least three times a week on my way to and from work, and am friendly with the staff, and we are often told, as compers, that if we enter local comps, we have a better chance of winning.
Imagine my surprise, then, when having bought a couple of charity raffle tickets in the store on my way home for the Easter long weekend, I got a phone call from the store manager of that same local shop to tell me I had won their lovely choccy-full Easter hamper in the raffle! I went to work on the Tuesday after Easter Monday and collected my prize, and the manager insisted on taking a photo of me at their front door with my prize, to the amusement of the passing customers, and I was grinning broadly the whole time!
I shared my prize with some colleagues at work, the local foodbank, and my children and husband....and I demolished most of the Milk Tray myself!
Thank you for that sound advice to enter locally, as its my first local win in some time, since our poor local newspaper met its demise a few years ago!
